What we do
SilverCoins.in answers one question well: what is this silver coin worth right now? We publish live silver rates for India and in 9 currencies, the metal value of popular coins from 10 gram gift coins to American Silver Eagles, and free tools to check whether a price is fair.
We don't sell silver, and we aren't a dealer or a jeweller. That independence lets us show you the gap between the silver value of a coin and the price you're being quoted.
How we calculate prices
Every price on the site starts from the international spot price of silver (XAG/USD, per troy ounce), which we refresh about once a minute. From there:
- Other currencies: we convert the spot price at live exchange rates, refreshed several times a day.
- Indian market rate: spot price × USD/INR × (1 + 15% import duty). GST at 3% is shown separately because it applies at purchase.
- Coin values: gross weight × purity gives the pure silver content, multiplied by the rate above. This is the melt value.
Right now that means 999 fine silver is ₹210.56 per gram and ₹2,106 per 10 grams at the Indian market rate.

- Coin specifications: official mint publications and standard numismatic references
If a data source is temporarily unavailable, we show the last price we received and never make up a number.
Our principles
- No invented numbers. Import duty and GST are set nationally, so the metal rate is the same in every Indian city. We say so plainly instead of inventing small city-by-city differences.
- Only facts we can stand behind. If we can't verify a coin specification or a local market, we leave it out.
- Show the working. Our formulas are published on this page, so you can check any price yourself.
- Corrections welcome. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it quickly.
Important to know
Our prices are indicative. Jewellers and dealers add making charges or premiums, and the price they will buy back at is usually a little below the live rate. Rare and collectible coins can be worth much more than their silver value. Nothing on this site is investment advice. Please read our Terms of Use.
