About this coin

Mexican Libertad

Mexico's Casa de Moneda has struck the silver Libertad since 1982. It shows the winged Victoria from the Angel of Independence monument with Mexico's volcanoes behind.

Libertads have no fixed face value; their legal tender value follows the silver price. Mintages are much smaller than for Eagles or Maples, so premiums are often higher.

Mexican Libertad: FAQ

How much is a Mexican Libertad worth today?

Based on today's silver price (13 Oct 2026), the silver in a Mexican Libertad is worth about $59.37, or ₹6,548 at the Indian market rate. This is the melt value. Dealers and jewellers sell above it and usually buy slightly below it.

How much silver is in a Mexican Libertad?

A Mexican Libertad weighs 31.104 g at 99.9% purity, so it contains 31.07 g of pure silver (0.9990 troy oz).

Is a Mexican Libertad worth more than its silver value?

Usually, yes: bullion and collectible coins sell at a premium over melt value because of minting, distribution and collector demand. Common, circulated coins trade close to melt, while rare dates, mint marks and high grades can be worth much more.

How do I know if I'm paying a fair price?

Enter the seller's price into the premium checker above. It compares the quote with the live metal value and shows the premium as a percentage. Compare that percentage between sellers before you buy.
